My first blog...literally!

Updated: Aug 20, 2023

As the title suggests. This is my first blog...literally. Where do I start? What do I write about?

I haven't researched any specific formulas on how to write a post like this. So I'm pushing the boat out (sorry to drop a shipping pun in so early). Let's begin with a little background and I guess we we will go from there.

I operate a Sole Proprietorship called Drop-Ship Packaging LLC. This industry has become my pride and joy over the past 3 years. Learning from scratch and educating myself on the fundamentals of running a company, exploring the craft of

sourcing, and enhancing my ability as a graphic designer through packaging

projects. These three components have finally (Image by Gyana Limited)i

aligned into a well-rounded operation that's

ready to move up the ladder.

The task at hand when writing this blog is to broaden my skills through literature. Wow, I never thought I would say that! As a child and growing up, until literally a month ago, I hated reading! It just wasn't my thing. I could do mathematics or draw a picture, but reading? That didn't interest me.

There was a momentary obsession around the age of 11 years-old when I told my parents I wanted to be a football journalist. Their one response that diminished my short-lived dream was, "you know that means you're going to have to do a lot of reading, right?"

Fast forward to the present day and I have almost finished my second book in a month. It's not a lot, but it's a start. This practice each day has been therapeutic and is teaching me skills that can be applied to my business. Hopefully, as I continue to read more and more, my literacy skills will improve.

This blog will aim to shed some light on niche topics from the industries that my customers operate within. As a portfolio website with no call to action through product sales or subscription services, viewers aren't circulating the website frequently. Speaking very candidly, SEO is a huge contributor to online success in the modern world and I plan on utilizing the transparency of my knowledge as a platform for a wider outreach. This is why I will consistently provide information/data/news so that Drop-Ship Packaging remains relevant, reliable, and approachable.

I really want to abstain from advertising through paid social media marketing. You can't visit two pages or scroll two seconds without being assaulted by advertisements from every angle. The industry is so saturated, everyone blends into one. Does it work? Sure, of course it does. It has the ability to reach 100,000s of people almost instantaneously. I just really dislike the direction of where social media marketing is going and aim to generate an organic and curated following. I'm sure I'll touch on this topic in a future post.

Like everyone else, I have the necessary information surfaced throughout my website, explaining what the process is and why we're the best, but none of my competitors are explaining how they're doing it. They're not broadcasting the small fundamentals behind the business they're conducting. I want my customers to manifest the thought process driving this company. I want them to experience what influences my design inspiration or where my knowledge of sourcing originated.

If you've continued to read this far, thank you. I hope this means you're willing to scratch beneath the surface a little more...but...this is where I'll stop. Come back and we will dive deeper (sorry, second pun in one post) into something more interesting.

Stay tuned. Stay safe.
